Secondly, the way to reduce your NHI fee.

1.How to calculate NHI fee.

NHI fee is consisted by per capita fee and income based fee.

(NHI fee = per capita fee + income based fee)

A per catita fee is ¥51,000- for one joinner.

A income based fee is calculated by total income of last year in Japan.

2.How to reduce NHI fee

If you want to reduce NHI fee, firstly you have to nortificate your last year's income in Japan to municipality where you live this year's Jan 1st.

(ex. You need to notificate total income in Japan of 2017 to municipality where you live on Jan 1st,2018.)

All NHI joinnner have to notificate last year's income, even if you are a child, a student. . If you don't do this, NHI fee isn't reduced. Because municipalities need your income information to decide that how much decision can you get.

And, if you came to Japan firstly after this year's Jan 1st, please notificate a municipality where you live now that you came to Japan after this year's Jan 1st and you didn't have last year's income in Japan (You don't need notificate about income to municipality where you lived this years Jan 1st of this year.).
